Scared

Been scared of you since the day we met

Your attitude, looks and age have always been a threat

You make me wonder what’s worse, “what if” or regret

It’s been so long since I’ve seen you, where you been?

You took me out on the dance floor and oh what a spin

I’d never seen anything so pristine, so free of sin

You got me up nights and in the light you got me dreaming

Now you’ve got me wondering how close you have be to hear my heart screaming

I know I’m not perfect but I know you can rid me of my demons

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
