    Self

    I am a tree on a cliff,
beside the Rivers waterfall that eternally finds its way to the ocean below.

    I dance with the wind.
I reach for the sun, the stars.
I am deeply rooted in the Earth and drink from its water of life.

I listen to the Ocean below telling its story of creation and evolution.

    I exist where all meets,
where the veil of boundaries melts into oneness.

My highest branches in the heavens,
my feet, my roots firmly in the Earth.

This is the song and dance of life,
    moving along this microcosm,
and making its way up to join it all.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
