Shattered

Shattered

I sit and try to write with grace

The words to show this sunken place

I’ve tried to start this many times

But failed to finish my shattered rhymes

I’ve been submerged in wallows deep

And cried the blood of hollows weep

Sundered again from soul within

Breaking hope away from shattered sin

With picture crisp in mirror clean

I saw the future’s sweet serene

Not long ago with suspended bliss

I knew the love my lips did kiss

Then came the storm’s dark embrace

Destroyed the scene of hallowed place

It began to squeeze constricting sound

My lungs left bare as griefs surround

A thousand shards of shattered love

Beyond the dream of perfect dove

My love, my heart still it matters

My soul is yours though it shatters

Heartbreaking... but beautifully written. Your word choices and phrasing are wonderful. Thanks so much for sharing, I could tell it was painful to write.

Poetry is what gets lost in translation.
