Should I be Proud?

Should I be Proud?

Sometimes I ask myself, when I look at my demeanor-should I be proud?
As I limp from the curve of the corner to the dirt of the sidewalk, Should I be proud?
From the scars on my legs to the bags of my eyes, should i be proud?
From my mind to my matter, should I be?
As i go to church praising and praying, standing at the altar..
and I fall to my knees in dissapointment,
and I fall to my knees in regret,
and I fall to my knees sadness,
and i fall to my knees in anger, oh lord..Should I be proud?
A tear falls from my face as my smile begins to widen
I too dare to dream, from the contents of my mind to the joy of my soul..
I AM proud!!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
