    So the Day

So the day prceeds to fade
    Nighttime closes in
A quiet peace decends on me
    The shadow dance begins
I'll offer you my open heart
I'll offer you what's best in me
    and pray you don't deceive
If I have lost my way
My heart would tell me so
    I'll hold my peace
    I'll hold my heart
and in the cloak of darkness go.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
