Soldier's Sorrow

Poem Commentary

Ready to see an end to the war in Iraq/

Soldier's Sorrow

Spoke to a friend the other day;

To my dismay he had much to say;

About the way he was living;

The losing hand he and others were given;

Missing holidays with loved ones;

Fighting a war no one had won;

Enduring unbearable heat and lonely nights

Fighting for rights with little light;

To the end of a selfish cause;

That most don't even care about;

Endless days and nights he does count;

As the time mounts with no answers;

From the mouths of those breeding cancers;

Into the lands of innocent folk;

Who have done nothing to provoke;

This insane war joke, such a bad dream;

Over, it should have been deemed;

An end to this selfish cause.
