Stand Up

Stand Up

Like a child learning to walk, I stumble,
falling again and again
into the dark.
Each time defeated, I tremble,
afraid to begin then
fall again.

Like a child learning to walk, I look,
for hand - for guide up
into the light.
Each hope's touched, I took
a chance and stand up
tall again.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
