Standing alone

Standing alone

I stand alone
with my hands folded
I hurt to the bone
And my life has been molded

Please don't forget
the day you pledged
your love for me
I simply can't forget

I stand alone with myself
No one can begin to feel
what I have within myself
So yes I want to peel my
skin away to reveal my
heart and how it's breaking

Thank you for letting me
experience the pain of
standing alone just to
be free of myself and
The person I finally want
to be by standing alone

Standing alone - You really feel like your standing alone in this poem. You can feel the pain. As you read this, you come to realize that you can not free yourself of yourself and you can never become someone else. You just remain your same ole self with the same ole pain. A person obsessed with their own being and circumstance. Sad indeed.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
