STEP UP TO THE PLATE

STEP UP TO THE PLATE

Adults should set examples for our youth
I must enlighten you to the bitter truth,
We see them doing wrong, on the subway & bus
Raising a ruckus, or causeing a fuss
Running and jumping and using profanity,
It's enough to question one's sanity
The adults just watch, and sit in their chair
To say one word, they don't even dare
If we showed concern, it may tone down their fun
Just step up to the plate, you may hit a home run

Bravo!! again, another well deserved 10.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
