Poem Commentary

Inspired by Disney's Lilo & Stitch.

Stitch

I was watching, it was a cartoon, but it touched the reality of my soul.

Emotions stirred, once thought extinct, found to be only dormant,

Erupting from deep within, overwhelming my defenses.

I was watching, it was a cartoon, an hour and a half, just for 10 seconds,

Yet I hear in my deafness such that it beckons, the moisture from my eyes,

The fires from a stitch in time, just a moment when a few words healed a wound, I never knew was there.

I still do not know why these seconds touch me so, but the release of emotion, the tears, they did flow,

And rewind and fast forward many times I did, probably way more than one should, just to hear this moment; “This is my family, I found it all on my own; it’s little and broken, but still good, yeah, still good.”

I would not give up the emotions felt, the volcanic eruptions of tears, during those seconds, when my heart could do nothing but melt, because for a hour and a half, just for 10 seconds, I watched, it was a cartoon, but it touched the reality of my soul, not thinking then of not being rich, because the time spent watching was worth more than twice that bit, just to hear those words from an alien named stitch.

I enjoyed reading this, it amazing how you pull life's experiences from most peculiar places. Well done.

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed this peice,

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
