Sweet Potato.........................

When young............I'm a bud just waiting to blossom.........Basking in the suns glow............feeding on it's energy.......pulsating after each wave of sustaining essence..........day after day.................................

As time passes.........mutation occurs and I start to develop a firm outer shell...........One that learns what to let in and what not......but mistakes are made along the way.  If careful I will survive.........I will survive..........................................................................................

Now I'm almost fully developed and I feel a sweetness growing in me everyday.............what am I.........who am I..........what is my purpose.

I'm here with others like me..........but they seem just as oblivious as I.
One thing is certain.........what ever our purpose.........it seems that we're needed in quantity..................................................................

There are other beings pulling and tearing at us..........what can this mean.........We are being collected and displayed...........One of the creatures picks me up and puts me in a large structure and takes me away.............................................................................................

I'm in another place now and I'm being altered once again.........It hurts me but I now know my purpose............I am nourishment to sustain Life....................I give to others that what they need.............
I have purpose for others...............that makes my existence have merit..........................remember me..............................................
