the bathroom

toothpaste stains the basin
you pull a cord to start and stop the fan
a flash and im 17 again, clean skin and short hair
another flash and I’m back to the present
the shower at my mother’s house
the taps have changed but the feeling is the same
a bathtub of pain and joy
new memories replacing the old
turn the taps off and the water drips from the shower head
drops of water splash down my face
i catch them in my mouth
i could spend an eternity just laying in the bath
toothpaste stains the basin you pull a cord to start and stop the fan a flash and im 17 again, clean skin and short hair another flash and I’m back to the present the shower at my mother’s house the taps have changed but the feeling is the same a bathtub of pain and joy new memories replacing the old turn the taps off and the water drips from the shower head drops of water splash down my face i catch them in my mouth i could spend an eternity just laying in the bath
