The Battle Within

My mind is divided in half,

Each trying to walk separate paths.

One side wants to be Godly; the other is filled with inequities.

Every moment is a test of my integrity.

A test of my faith and patience,

Always being tempted by Satan.

My brain has been contaminated.

I know that without the Lord no man has made it.

But without money no man can make it.

Chasing worldly lusts,

Trying to show the world love,

Each day is a tug of war,

Questioning my love for the Lord.

Visions of money, women, and drugs blur my sight.

Walking softly so I’m not heard at night.

I’m out stalkin’ and lootin’,

If anyone tries to stop me I’m shootin’

I don’t care, to me your just a worthless bitch.

No, I will go to your services.

I will go and show my respect.

Most of the decisions I make I regret.

I use every opportunity to repent

But every rule can be bent.

Find the loop holes in the system.

I won’t do it unless I gain.

Dollar signs and women are the only things dancin’ in my brain.

I need to find a positive way to use my wisdom.

Use my words to educate all generations.

In hopes of creating a better nation.

Praying that natural causes are the only way men will die.

Born 6/7/77 I am a Gemini.

One person being twins, having a double mind.

One person shouldn’t have such a troubled mind.

I’m riding a pure white horse saddled with sins.

Each day is a new beginning to the Battle Within.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
