    Poem Commentary

    We haven't talken sence

The Day I Made My Mother Cry

    I walked in the house
    Fire in my eyes
my mother and I had been fighting the hole way home
    I almost wanted to scream

My mom wanted to calm me down
    But I just kept yelling
she started laghing at the way I was reacting

Than I said the worst thing I could think of to say to her  and said it
I saw tears in her eyes Ifelt happy
then I saw what I had just done to her
    I ripped her heart out

I knew I couldn't get her to ever forgive me
In her eyes I wasn't her son anymore
That's the day I made my mother cry

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
