    The Day We Met

She sat there, depressed; I saw no sun in her life
Just for being concerned, saw stress, knew her strife
Who would have thought I would need her for my wife
But now she’s hurting me, cutting through my heart like a knife

At that time, she had stopped living, no reason to go on
I brought her back from the darkness, bringing a break of dawn
Sprinkled her garden, got gross to grow on her lawn
Who knew she would have left me, who knew she would be gone

So far away, blinded by infatuation, caught up in another world
The only way she could possibly not love me is if she was another girl
For I taught her how to love again, to make her love unfurl
What it feels like to be treasured, she was more precious than pearl

I can't even hate her, for I think she's just scared
But looking in from where you are, one would say am weird
For I showed her what it means to be loved, needed, showed her I cared
And when I needed a rescue, there was no one, out of my life she disappeared

If she'd only know, there is no way am going to ever forget her
Even if she's going to kill me, I won’t yield, for sure am going to let her
I ask the Lord each and every day; tell me what it is I should do to get her
For I really love her, and I‘ve been loving her since the very first day I met her

This is a great poem. My friend I know how you felt because I have been there !!!

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
