The Drug I Hate!

Cocaine is so lame it can change your soul

It can make you flip out and lose all control

You don’t care about life; all you want is a buzz

They say money can’t buy love, but it can buy ya drugs

So you’ll hurt anybody just to have your way

When your heart beats too fast is that really ok?

Your homeys say nothing or they tell you it’s alright

You won’t O-D; you can do the shit all night

What true friends to have standing by your side

They don’t fight for future they sit and watch you die

Then your mom cries rivers asking were she went wrong

And the women you let go of is left, writing this song…

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
