The Forgotten Dance of the Nomads

They wondered sightless...blind in the dark
to lifes bitter betrayal their hearts did endure.
They'd except ingratitude...yet within they'd bleed
retreating into thierselves was never the cure...

Silent passageways were shattered by cries of despair
that echoed beyond to lifes unjust ballroom
where forgotten memories, life silk petals laid within the dust
and the cold whisper of torment waited within the gloom...

Anguish smiled as they walked those corridors of pain
where portraits of happier days hung faded in their frames
for torture and pain waited eager in shadows keep
to lead them hostage bound into the flames

A million tears cried lay an ocean before us
a sea into which innocents lost its soul
the skies may be covered in clouds of regret
for mocking laughter can no longer sing chorus to our goal

We no longer see it within the scheme of things
for us to remain hidden from those who never cared
we stand tall, we talk back, we are proud of what we are
anothers ridicule no longer keeps us ensnared.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
