The Glass, Cup & Dixie cup

Mama I sit here in front of a wall of memories glistening with wisdom love and compassion
at the time I didn¢t understand
My rebellious yrs were full of confusion
But I still hear you I hear you mama
I hear you saying what I can¢t teach you life will
And here I am holding life's bill I held myself like that Dixie cup
 Instead of seeing
My self worth
The crystal glass that I was brought up to be
Shattered I broke it with a yes instead of a no
Now my lips feel like swinging doors
An invitation to low self esteem
How did I get here?
 But in my ears
I still hear you mama I hear you
I hear you saying you are somebody
But you have to believe it
When you realize that
When you  realize that
You will embody the sophistication of the
Fine Waterford glass
The glass the cup and the Dixie cup
Who am I  which one represents me
Do I have the class of the glass?
Am I frumpy like the drinking cup?
Or am I easily disposed like the Dixie cup
I am a loving soul but do I love me
Who am I  what do you see when you look at me
Wrong question I shouldn¢t give a damn about your opinion
Of whom I am
I am a woman with a purpose determined to succeed in my journey
But some how I lost my way
 I compromised my self respect
Sitting here reflecting on the decisions I have made
Praying for guidance mama I hear you
I know a hard head makes a soft behind and
I am sick and tired of life¢s lessons kicking my ass
I need to get back to my roots
The glass the cup and the Dixie cup
The glass the cup and the Dixie cup
Virtue respect honesty
 Spiritual compassionate understanding
Bubble over in the glass
Confusion and doubt
Spill over in a drinking cup
Low self esteem dishonesty
Idle minds
Dissolve the Dixie cup
Standing here looking in the mirror
Beauty fades education maintains
Self-respect perseveres and joy
Comes from with in
Who am I?
I am a confident woman who is guided first
By God sprinkled with the wisdom of my mother
Bubbling over like the champagne in that Waterford glass
The glass the cup and the Dixie cup
I am the finer things in life
I am luxury
I am the glass

Do you hear me?

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
