    The Lake

    Lie still

As virgin, unblemished as you can,
    for fear some sudden updraft
    unbidden
    will frighten her away.

    Soon
You'll hear the steady cadence of approach.
    Close now
    Yes, I'm here!
You feel the upward rush of her climb.
    Capricious Creature!

She is bound for another and you,
you are once again only almost.

I wanted to write something about the frustration and sadness of almost acheiving something beautiful but falling just short...I'm wondering if it came across in the work?

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
