    The Last Tear Drop

You lay alone, in your bed at night
Gripping the covers, blinded out of sight
Brain washed, by your past that gave in inside
Anger alternating, all you do is cry

Cry, when your love is being tested
Cry, when you don't have strength to win
So you absorb all the Devil's descretion
    And role-play a deadly sin

Isolated, in your cold narrow bed
    Crying on the inside out
    Blood rushing through your head

Heavy pasting, it's hard to breathe
    Heart pounding intensively
Why couldn't it just be a dream

    You feel yourself dying slowly
Taking in a few more breaths
As a gentle tear runs down your face
    One more step till death

    Your sight begins to blackout
    Remembering one last thought
    It wasn't ever your fault...
    Your last tear drops

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
