    The Mirror

I open my eyes to the morning light

I look in the mirror and see the color of my eyes

Lines on my face, sure shows my age

I stepped out on a busy street I see women and our eyes meet

Does she best to smile at me or hide what’s underneath?

The Loneness and pain in her eyes

     Wondering why it hasn’t end

Black dress with bright red shoes

    To ashamed to see

    What life has been?

    She is out of work

    She is buying time

She waiting to cross this busy street

Why haven’t I ever cared at all?

Deep in her eyes I see

The women with the black dress and bright red shoes,

     She looks strong to me!

I look around me only to see what a busy street this is

Hopefully the next street will show greener traffic light to see.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
