The Spirit Stands Tall

The Spirit Stands Tall

I looked across my land
Through tears did I see
A forsaken glimmer of hope
Of what life was supposed to be.
In this life, I did judge
With what I did perceive
But the will of the human spirit
I was renewed to believe.
This spirit stands tall
When adversity takes hold
We then have become
That voice speaking bold
They cried with us
What can we do
Hold on, we'll be there
We love New Orleans too
As morning rose, what did I see
All who could run
Came by our plea
Who can imagine what we've been through
And still...we stand tall
The bold, the brave, the few.
