    The Spoilers

Some people are just plain miserable
And they appear to be happy that way
And they 'll make a concentrated effort
    To ruin your day

They are so full of themselves
And it is hard for them to hide
    Because jealousy and bitterness
    Permanently, in them, resides

    Oh, they can't wait
    To make you miserable too
    Because, quite frankly,
    They have designs on you

    They may or may not
    Even know your name
But they are out of ruin your day
    Just the same

    So beware, my Friend,
And avoid them like the plague
    And with that accomplished
    Perhaps you'll have it made

    Turn the other cheek
Or better yet - just walk away
For you are not going to let them
    Ruin a perfectly good day

It's unfortunate there are so many
    In a constant stew
Just don't let their spoiler attitude
    Rub off on you

This is so true. Poems that apply to life and can be understood by all are preferred instead of those that only the poet understands and can relate to.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
