The Subway Station

    The Subway Station

Surrounded by the darkness and damp air
    as I sit and stare.
    Waiting for passing lights
    watching  the people go by.

    Sipping my hot coffee
    smoking a cigarette.
    Wondering about the lives
as I step out of mine.

    Sitting on the hard concrete.
Silently waiting for the next train.
Remembering the homeless person on the street
wondering if he can laugh in the rain.

    Here come more lights
    more faces
    businessmen in suits.
    Lovers going places
    childrens' hearts racing
    families going home together.

    Darkness returns.
    Silence followed by the wind.
    Listening for the slightest sound
no signs of life are around.

Finishing my last sip of coffee
    seeing dawn peek out.
Time to go back to my void
I take one last look around.

noce scenery, word choice supports the observational frame of the poems perspective semi detached feeling and images make the form and pace logical a good read.. thanks for posting this
