theme for english III

The instructor said,

Go home and write a page tonight.

And let that page come out of you-

Then it will be true.

So here I am

Writing about you,

You never leave my mind

I lay awake at night thinking about you all the time.

Staring up at the midnight sky,

The stars looking like diamonds,

It reminds me of your smile.

I just stare a while,

Remembering when you were mine.

You looked so fine.

Now I got to blank out years of my past to get over you.

You said you’d stay true through and through,

Well I guess forever is a lie!

Because you said until the day I die,

And you and I are still alive.

So why did I try so?

It seems I’ll never know.

I’ll let you be but I just thought I’d let you know,

You were my theme for English three.

Love, perhaps viewed as the never ending bane of existence and yet at the same time the eternal expedition of living. Dare we place our hearts within the hands of another, sharing the depths of our moral soul or lessen the degrees by which we live and hide within a shell of loneliness. How sad the broken heart left in solitude when love has said goodbye.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
