To Know You Is To Love You
From the moment I first met you I knew deep in my heart
that we should be together and never have to part,
but the more I got to know you, I knew it would never be
for you were in love with someone else and could never
set her free.
I know you will never hold me the way that you hold her,but
you can't erase my memory of what I know for sure
To know you is to love you, to love you would be divine
to lose you is a grieving thought but not a wish of mine
I know that I must leave here and go upon my way,
my only hope I meet someone to take your place someday
and once I get to know him I hope it will not be that he is in love
with someone else and can never set her free.
