Poem Commentary

I am a muse...I am used...I am amused...

To Lie Upon a Beach

To lie upon a beach and stare at you through time,
The tide at sandy feet, I bare to you my mind.
To see a soul to speak, what wisdom you might find.
The message that you seek, I will listen back in kind.
The stars they still do peek from depths within your eyes,
As universes leak from the power in the skies
With elemental streaks to color in the ties.
An image that I keep, to better know you by.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
