To My Daughter- Brittany

To My Daughter- Brittany

Sometimes when I look at you now
I wish that you were again- A child

I'd be the coolest mom in town-
and you would hold my hand-
and I would make you proud!
We would dance, and we would sing,
and dress up baby dolls,
and laugh at funny things!
We would play all day at the park,
and tell scary stories in the dark!
And into bed we would crawl,
and we would hold each other,
until the early dawn!

Don't misunderstand- I was there-
but I was young-
just a child myself, when you came along!
I did the best that I knew how-
and my best --was not so bad--
Just look at yourself now!

I love you Brittany!
Love, Mom

Very sweet write. A young mother's reflection back in time. What could have been, would have been. Now what is and a fine ending. Thank You.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
