To My Daughter the Executive

My Journey in Hell

“You were my pride that turned into my shame

You were my success that became my destruction

You were my lofty hope that dissipated into utter despair

You were my cheers that became my lamentations

You were the melody that transformed into a malady

You were to bring joy but delivered only grief

You were the dream that evolved into a nightmare

You were the emblem of my sacrifices that dissolved into void

You were to light up my life but left me in the pitch dark

You were the apple that rotted my eyes and dried my tears

You were the angel that mutated into a demon who deadened my soul

You were the spoiled, cold-hearted child who broke my heart and brittled my bones

From a Mother

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
