    Translucent

ribbed thin skin stretched over skilled fingertips
    suicidally slits riffs of life
    crying, bleeding lust, soul filled
    scorned, scored notes
slow, rhythmically reaching to clot, hot cords vibrating sound that travel
melodically beyond the limits of thought, pulse, breath

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
