    Trapped

My pathethic soul stands before that gate.
Before another day and perpetual darkness.
    "I'm nothing" written in redness.
I don't want to be alone... I can't be alone again.
    Pure and beautiful bliss, together.
    Forever.
Do I not deserve this light.
I choose to live now, but what of tomorrow?...
    Please, stop, not again.
    My heart suffocating and alone.
it needs to be held by that kiss.
"I'm sorry" written in my mind.
    Don't leave me,...you can't leave me now.
    Numb and unfeeling, closed.
    To the world.
    But not to you...?
I can't speak; it has my throat.
    Stop, please, I'm screaming.
    Do I need you more?
My hand is grasping in the nightmares.
    Take all of me.
    Now and Always.
"I love you" written in my last breath.
    I can't feel you.
    Not here.
Make it better; I'm on my knees.
    Begging.
    For a tomorrow with you.
    I can't- set me free.
    Please, I can't stop.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
