    Poem Commentary

    Sailing with TN 2002 summer

    Treasure Box

    When my mind is quiet
    my heart tip toes inside
memories of us so precious unfold
kept safe in my treasure box
    never to grow old
    love is the sentinel
    guarding its key
    and only my heart gives
    permission to see

Each minute detail is stored there to last
    like sparkling diamonds
    of crystalline glass
each lovely facet reveals our past
    time spent together
    passes much too fast

Beautiful days spent far from the shore
    reliving them makes
    my heart ache for more
    rippling waters exploding with peace
    gentle winds propelling with ease

Clouds honor us by hiding behind
skies filled with rays of brilliant sunshine
soft breezes blowing, like kittens purr
    confirming our union
    a treasure of love

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
