    Tribute

    Mom's friend has alzheimer's

mom says she talks about dead people

    all the time.

    Mom is 94

    she is forgetful too

    she remembers Ireland tho

    a farm, a ship, a new land

    Now mom talks of nasturtiums

    shovels, dirt

    a lamp and a spade

    I love you mom.

this sounds a bit like the beginning of a stephen king novel, i love it, it put wonderful pictures in my mind of my mom and dad and my Gram...i hope i am as loving to them as they reach that point as u r. and i would love to hear ur mom's stories of ireland, i lived in europe for a few years, but going to ireland is still just a dream...

glad you liked the poem. mom has been back to ireland twice, but i never have gone. she wants to send me tho but i have health problems. i know many stories about the old sod. at xmas for example mom would get an orange in her stocking and a doll maybe. she has all these quaint expressions. grogrum grey. that's the color of a mouse's titty. mom like her brothers plays the concertina and her dad played the fiddle. i hope you get to go to ireland. if i get up the courage i may go. love, jack b
