    Unrelenting Desperation

How much am I forced to take before the time gives out?
Waiting, hoping, praying, but never-the-less, I’m left losing
It’s more than loss, it’s a way of life that I’m stuck choosing
A designated path opens before me, with life passing as I shout
About what? It has no meaning anymore, no sense of it soothing

How am I supposed to ignore this reoccurring feeling?
My vision is unclouded, but it’s path, smeared with lies
Every time I’m with you, I feel it, the pain beginning to rise
It is not you that creates this burden, but myself, and I’m kneeling
Stealing away, alone, to shout out in relentless cries

Though I am ashamed, for saying that means I’d rather be let alone
Please, release your clasp on my soul, so that I may rest
Angel, demon, divine imagination that sets you apart from the best
You are the one, the only one, to which my soul will ever atone
Unbeknown, am I, that never again subdued, the pain in which you nest?

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
