Villanelle- Hearts Desire

Don’t fear your heart’s desire for it knows best,

For desire will bring bright colours of red,

Follow it faithfully into the West.

For love and desire; the ultimate test,

Bow low to emotion, no sense of dread,

Don’t fear your heart’s desire for it knows best.

It once was said love shall beat any pest.

Breathe, Breathe, for love can hang by a thin thread,

Follow it faithfully into the West.

Time will not defeat love, it is your crest.

In Death love wins, for it lies with the dead,

Don’t fear your heart’s desire for it knows best.

Pure, pure, love must never be used in jest,

Be certain of the long path you know you must tread.

Follow it faithfully into the West.

For love can be hard, and hurtful like lead,

Your love is strong, though you must keep your head.

Don’t fear your heart’s desire for it knows best,

Follow it faithfully into the West.
