Where will I find the River of Peace?

See the fallen child? Hear the cries hidden deep within? Touch the tears stains barely wiped away? Is it that we don’t see them, or hear them, can we even touch them? See them smile and laugh when they live in their pretend little world, when someone tells them that they love them, even their eyes are bright with wonder. Holding them near, wishing that all that was done will do them well. I smile and I cry for I have seen the face of a broken child and I have seen the face of one that has been healed. So father it is with great sorrow and joy where will I find the river of peace? When I look at children so innocent in this life, and the adults that became the fallen child that no body see’s.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
