    Who Will Cry?

Who will cry for the little girl
    Lost and all alone?
Who will cry for the little girl
Who longs to have a home?
Who will cry for the little girl
    Sad and without a friend?
Who will cry for the little girl
    Whose heart will not mend?
So, who will cry for the little girl
    Lost and all alone?

This is so poignantly touching in its pliant simplicity. Ashley, you have correctly avoided flowery figures of speech in this soul- moving lament. You display a masterly and effective use of anaphoras in intensifying a series of (by no means rhetorical questions) questions that demand answers, in a too often callous and fearful world.

Almost perfect. Line eight could use one more beat. Use the preposition "with" instead of "for" and pity morphs into empathy. Ah! Decisions, decisions. You made a lot of good ones here.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.
