    Why

    by: Sandra Jackson
Please help me lady, I heard him cry.
Please help me, he said, as I passed him by.
The world of homeless becomes bigger each day.
Do you stop and help, or hurry along on your way?
Are you blind and deaf, or wish not to hear their cries?
Do you sit there and think; Someone will help them?
    It's only lies!
Why do we only turn and look the other way?
We need to be there for them,to make their day.
Are you selfish and wish you went the other way?
Just remember that this could be you someday.

Please lady, give me some food! They still cry.
People on the street, I see them still passing him by.
You need to think; What if that were you?
Are you going to help them, tell me what would you do?

This piece of work is absolutely outstanding. With me being a Truck Driver, I see this unfortunate reality from state to state. Thank you for putting this epidemic into words when "We" as Americans are struggling everyday in this journey that we call Life. Please keep everyone in your prayers. Zettie

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
