Winter

Winter

large snowflakes slowly fall
one by one they rest where laid
the crystal housing all around
encloses me so i am bound
encases all that has not fled

wilted and frozen marks the sleep
trapped in ice rigid and still
this season dark with cool of blue
skies are masked with grayish hue
glistening sparkles high light each hill

where once was song now is somber
lush vanished-snow to keep
and all that gleamed lay deeply staid
flowers, sunshine, life does fade
as i and all fall into sleep
