Wishful Desire

Have you ever desired something so bad yet you could not have it.

Like a sick man with cancer in the hospital wanting a cigarette.

Like a dog on a 10 foot chain with a steak sat 12 foot away

Like a kid when it’s dark outside still wanting to stay out and play

Like being in a triple nightmare wanting someone to wake you up

Like being at the movie theater wanting disrespectful people to just shut up

Like wanting your bills to stay small and few

So it is I desire to spend my time with you

Ever wish for something knowing you don’t deserve it

Like the worst acting kid wishing for the biggest  Christmas gift

Like the  people who leave late, hoping to catch the first bus

Like the student never doing their homework wanting to receive an A plus

Like the guilty one in jail wishing for their freedom

Like the unrepentant sinner wishing for the best seat in Gods Kingdom

Like wishing for money to buy a new outfit, when you know your bills are all past due

So it is I wish to spend some time with you

Seriously though have you ever needed something you couldn’t live without

Like the antelope running from the lion needing an escape route

Like the man after a hard day at work needs the TV remote

Like the man that has just been bitten by the killer snake needs his antidote

Like some people living in the streets needing clothes to ware and some food to eat

Like some people living in a home but without air-conditioned cant beat the heat

Like a true hearted Christian needing to read and study his Bible

Like in these financially challenged times now, wisdom is adamant to all of our survival

So it is that my heart needs to be with you and waiting painfully for your arrival

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
