    WOLF

I heard him in the night.
    Far but near, haunting.
    I cowered inwardly,
    fearful, yet in awe.

I knew he would be here,
    that the search was over.
That fate had dealt this hand
    and I accepted it.

    The moon grew brighter,
the steps closer, echoing in the shadows.
    I dared not move, I couldn't.
    My time was now.

He reached the steps, looked and found
    that which he came for.
He reached out as i moved forwards,
and from Wolf to man - he became mine.

Gabrielle: Imagery artfully written. It was a pleasure to read.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
