Word Marriage

You know what's to come
searching side to side
expecting some
a groom and a bride
nouns eager to unite

adjectives not far behind
home, back to calm mind,
reading down the aisle
keep forward to find
a joining altar's stage

where syllables "I do" page
darling accord of rhyme,
preaching merry omen
basking in the moment
over over in time,

Winded strides never
dancing with forever,
i jump,"hooray hooray",
only to lose a step,
but get one more old-time.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
