Poem Commentary

I wrote this when my very close aunt passed away, in November of 2007, now whenever I read it, it gives me peace at mind to remember shes in a better place.

You Were Laid To Rest

We buried your body today,
but as we drove away
one last time I looked down
where your body now lay to rest.

I know your in peace and happiness,
and I shouldnt cry for you now
because I will see you again someday.

Your faith was true and strong,
and with our beloved God
is where we both know you belong.

Away from pain, hurt and sorrow
but I still cry because i realize
I wont see you tomorrow.

I just want you to know
I love and miss you dearly,
And tell all I know
that I miss and love them so

And dont forget to look down
on me once and a while
So when I look up to the sky
I'll see your loving smile.

I cant promise not to cry in sadness
or be sad because your not here
but I can promise to give you
a smile and a laugh not always a tear.

So remember Honeychild I lush you
and have no fear
as long as we remember you,
you will always be near!!!!!

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
