Never again will I lie
to myself about loving
If only to prevent you
from once again leaving

You're that guy I've been
waiting for my whole life
and the hurt I feel now is
like a stab from a knife

I never meant to hurt you
just make sure I was safe
i should've showed you from the start
all of the love that you gave

You fell for me hard
and I kept denying myself
all the butterflies and daydreams
and the way that I have felt

Now you say you want to go slow
and I felt the same exact way
but now I want to give you all of me
and see you everyday

I know that I'm not perfect
and that I will never be enough
but please let me be your baby
through the good times and the tough

Never again will i lie
to myself about loving
Just tell me that it will keep you
from once again leaving

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
