    A Devilish Rogue

I come to thee with wild intent,
As I take thee...by the hand,
And lay soft kisses on thy lips,
For my desire for thee be this -
    §
To ravish thee in passions throes,
For tis I be...a devilish rogue,
Who speaks to thee with silver tongue,
To woo thee till...tis I have won,
And thou accede to my design,
So that thou whilt...fore'er be mine -
    §
And yet thou know...twill n'er be true,
For tho such passions as we knew,
    Desires...of the heart, the soul,
Art tricks in trade...for a devilish rogue.
    §
    And yet I seek...to thee...seduce,
For come what may...this be the truth,
    For thee I lust...and yea...doth burn,
    And the fire consumes me
    At every turn -
    §
For I come to thee...with wild intent,
As I take thee...by the hand,
And lay soft kisses on thy lips,
    A devilish rogue...until the end.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
