    A MOTHERS LOVE

My hands are small compared to yours.
I can not open cabinets or even doors.
I can not walk as fast as you.
My legs are to little and my feet are to new.
I look up to you to make me strong.
I need you to love me and, teach me right from wrong.
I know daddy left you, but I am still here.
I share all of your pain and even your fear.
Now you won't hold me or tell me you care.
You only remind me I have his eyes and even his hair.
Daddy left for a new family in a different state.
There were no visits or phone calls to see your love turn into hate.
Hate for daddy and the burden he left behind.
A two year old girl and a note he couldn't even sign.
I understand why you hate daddy I truly do.
I only wonder what exactly was it that I did to you?
Can't you see my tears, I am hurting too.
You see he left me just as fast as he left you.
He left me alone to face the anger of someone who doesn't care.
A mother who slaps my face and pulls my hair.
Every day I spend wishing from above, that just one day I could have a mothers love.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
