A poem to a friend cat: RENEWAL

Thank you for the sweet message
I began to feel the threat of a cage.
So I went dancing amongst the stars
Drifted lazily and looked about lonely mars.
Took a couple of whirls around the moon
I stayed long enough to shed winters gloom.
My dance was long and I swayed melodic
Searched for my center faithfully methodic.
Gravity pulled me back towards this orb
Pulling from the universe to re-absorb.
All my essence spent to create for others.
A fleeting soulless thank you then their druthers.
Bid higher for my soul the stakes so vast
My feet touch lightly and I expelled the last
Grips of the demanding madness all about.
Awoke from my reverie and gave a loud shout
"I will leave again" if kindness meets disrespect
Create on canvas, guitar, and poetry my only object.
These are mine and are my choices to sell or contrive
A changed melody spiritually gives the renewed drive.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
