The Acid Tongue Man

He balloons himself with dog leashed precariously down the walk,
Large puffing struggling with each step never stopping to talk.
Each neighbor on his laborious journey pitying his laborious bulk,
Each wondering what his life was like that created this wheezing hulk.
The dog on the end of his leash allowed on rolling lengthening rope,
Encouragement extended between gasps for air giving the dog hope.
To move at great length to reach each neighbor's pet to unlimited teases,
The yards sanctity broken by a man laughing undaunted doing what he pleases.
Laughing at the sight of his dog able to reach where he dares not,
Choking and gasping encouraging this menace from his sidewalk spot.
Each animal scurrying away or restrained within their own confines,
This being in his shortness of breath found entertainment crossing lines.
Each neighbor asks him politely not to tease nor torture their pets they own,
Bursting from his mouth filthy curses and rants to neighbors he's shone.
This ballooned acid tongue man has earned his problem sickly mass,
Disrespect the center of his core and soon his life under heaven will pass.

Great story, can't help thinking this is a neighbour you know, such was the description.

This is an exciting little story.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
