    A prayer for my children

Born into this world, the apples of my eye,
If I were to lose them, I may as well die,
Their laughs, their smiles, their innocent faces,
It's up to me to show them the paces,
To raise them and comfort them when they feel pain,
The world in front of them, so much to gain,
A fathers love truely knows no end,
My love and prayers, daily with them I send,
As they go thru life, the couse will be rocky and hard,
They have to be alert, always on their guard,
I pray God will keep them in his loving, mercyful care,
To see them in pain, a cross I could not bear,
So, Lord watch over them and keep them throughout their life,
Let them look up to you, when they are faced with grief and strife,
Only God above knows what their life does hold,
God, please watch them , and shape them in your mold,
I know one day my life on earth will cease,
God, keep them in your arms and bring them inner peace,
My children are the world to me, for them I want the best
Let them find comfort in your arms, put their fears to rest,
They will always be my children, even when they do wrong,
Lord, keep them in the light of you, my heart sings this song,
Please God keep them safe, knock on their hearts door,
So my mind and heart can finally rest once more,
You gave me my children, but they still belong to you,
Watch over them and guide them, in all that they do,
When the time comes and I finish lifes little ride,
I'll wait with open arms to greet them on the other side.

I loved your poem. If all dads were like you, there would not be so many problems in the world.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
