A Special Friend

I talked to a friend today
A kind and gentle friend
The kind of friend, I can always turn to
When I feel the need to shed a tear or two
She listened to me unwind
She wasn't harsh or unkind
She didn't judge or tell me what to do
But was so helpful, because of all the things she knew

Her soothing voice, her gentle way,
Her humor that always gets so delightfully in the way
Plus her kind advice was just the stuff to pull me through, the darkness of my day
We talked, I cried, we laughed and then reminisced a lot
She's the kind of friend that's always there, through all the ups and downs
Through the joys and laughter and pain and tears
The kind of friend, I'm so glad to have
The kind of friend .......... there are just far too few!

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
